Loom Knitted Neck Scarf
Back in April I got this plastic knitting loom at Michaels and I had every intention to start my winter scarf, but I didn’t have time. Recently I found some great videos on youtube like this one about casting on and this one on how to cast off of the knitting loom
I used Lion Brand, ‘Fisherman’ color, Wool Ease thick and Quick yarn. It’s 80% Acrylic and 20% Wool. I misplaced my pick that comes with the loom to grab and carry over each peg, but I didn’t want to let that stop me, so I used my fingers to pull each loop over. This was easy because of the yarn weight…i’ll have to buy a new one (only 99 cents at michals) for thinner yard projects. I was hoping to make a long scarf to loop around my neck like I wear all my scarves. I got this far in just about an hour but realized that I ‘should’ have made it only 5 pegs wide instead of 9. The width is way to wide to wear it looped i think, so I had another idea where I could finish just this length off, and then sew a wide button to the middle of one side to make a buttoned neck scarf. These are quick and easy to make, so I have decided to make a handful to add to my online shop in the coming months. Hopefully in time for winter.
I have to say, this yarn is so soft to the touch…I’ll never go back to cheaper, scratchy yarn again.
I’ll post when I have completed it.
