Treasure Hunting – First Finds!
I don’t mind saying I’ve been a yard saler all my life and love the almost ‘treasure hunting’ aspect of it all. I’ve recently been an avid reader of Apron Thrift Girls blog who has inspired me to look for the treasures amongst it all… so that is what I have begun to do.
My goal really is to start small and just find the items that appeal to me in some way and they must be very inexpensive to buy. I think I’m most enjoying the challenge of researching the item and finding out all I can about it. Here are some of the items that I’m working on researching now. Anyone who has any idea about any of these, the help would be greatly appreciated!
72″ Pearl Necklace with Lobster claw clasp. Made by: Pursuits, ltd. Paid: $2.00
Research: Nothing found yet. The price on the back of the label has $40.
14″ Chain with Mary Pendant. Markings: Germany mark on back Paid: $1.00
Research: Cannot find anything on this yet.
Assorted Wooden Spools of Thread Paid: $1.00
Research: On etsy, I saw a lot of 12 vintage wooden spools priced at $12. I’m going to keep these though. I want to fill glass Mason Jars with them to decorate my sewing/craft room.
Wise Old Owl Brown Glass Coin Bank Markings: Wise Old Owl text impression on bottom Paid: $1.00
Research: Made by the Libbey Glass Company in the 60s. 6 1/4 inches tall.
Replica Wheaton Horseshoe Blue Glass Corked Bottles Markings: One has ‘made in taiwa’ the n is cut off. But the other has a much better impression of ‘made in taiwan’ and an SH on the bottom. Paid: $.20 cents for both
Research: I found out that these were made in the 70s as replicas of another glass item in Taiwan. I only noticed that other marking of SH last night so I need to look that up but I found one on Etsy in worse condition than mine for $18 dollars.
