A Good Wig MAKES a Costume
I have always adored Halloween for the main reason…the costumes! I would be into cosplay if I leaved near those types of events so I have to do it only on the socially acceptable day which is Halloween XD.
The past couple years i’ve given myself enough time to collect the things I need to put together a costume I can be proud of at a Halloween Party I throw every year. I’ve come to learn that even if your costume is amazing, if that particular costume warrents a wig…the wig itself will make or break your costume.
It started in 2014 when I had the idea to dress up as a 1920’s socialite.
My mother found this gorgeous beaded plum dress in the formal gown section of Salvation Army Store for $5 dollars! We took a trip there just to ‘see’ what we could find in a 20’s style and she spotted it! Couldn’t have been more perfect! Thanks Mom! 🙂 xoxoxo
I have naturally curly light brown hair so there was NO way I was going to be able to make it look like the curly styles they had at the time which looked really difficult so I switched to finding a bobbed wig. My particular issue is I need wigs that have bangs because I was blessed with a high forehead and this blonde bob wig from Liz Wigs was the perfect find.
Now, this one pictured and that I have linked isn’t the blonde one. They come in different colors and I wasn’t able to find the blonde one I wore at this moment.
Having such a great experience this first time, I’d say it’s the ‘brand’ you want to look for. It came perfectly packaged wrapped in a hair net and put inside a plastic bag that has a border of cardboard so it doesn’t mess up your wig. I kept them to put the wig neatly back in to store away. Being a $20 dollar wig it has great value. You may say that sounds like alot…but I’ve seen people put down over $100 just for a halloween costume (at these big box costume shops)…so when I can get my costumes at Salvation army store and yard sales for $5 bucks…I ‘have’ that extra 20 to put on a nice wig and STILL come out ahead!
Spring forward to 2015, and I decided to be a Steampunk girl.
Having such a great experience with Liz Wigs, I wanted another one for this years costume. I found a long, light brown and blond highlights one for $25 dollars by Liz Wigs.
Here is the one I purchased. I was able to still find them available. They also come in different colors. I will say though, mine was a few shades darker than the product photo, but I still wasn’t disappointed by that. I tried it on and liked it just the same. It also was packaged so neatly in a hair net so I could also keep that for storage.
For 2016? Right now…I’m planning my costume. It’s august…too soon? XD
Do you dress up? What are you going to be this year?
