January Favorites
To wrap up January, here is a list of some things I was introduced to, and some things that I couldn’t get enough of in January.
C-Span.org Online Streaming
It doesn’t matter which way you lean politically, there is something great and addictive about being able to watch (with no commentary, or opinions) congressional hearings, and press conferences first hand to make up your own mind about things that are going on. Hearing opinions and second hand facts from reporters is the thing that can become frustrating. It’s time for people to go to the source and make up their own minds. Visit C-Span.org
Thomas Cinnamon-Raisin Bagels
If you follow me on Instagram I posted a picture of my new favorite breakfast which is Thomas’ Cinnamon-Raisin Bagels. I put light cream cheese on them with some grapefruit juice. It’s heavenly and meets my current resolution on changing my ‘food’ lifestyle by trying to eat only 400 calories per meal which this is AND it’s filling. I’m hoping to lose 20 pounds by end of March. Going great so far! I lost 5 lbs. Visit Thomas website
Puzzles…Lots of Puzzles
Say what you will…the tangible activity of puzzles (to get you the frick off of electronics) is great and relaxing. My mother and I used to put together puzzles ALL THE TIME when I was growing up. We even called the room we put them together in ‘the card room’ only because that had the card table in it where we put them together. Then, once we finished them, I would puzzle glue them together and we would hang them all over the walls. It was so great. I wish I would have at least kept one of them when they were taken down but oh well. I still haven’t got my own kiddo into working on this with my husband and I, but it may be coming…because last night, he came over and got a piece from one we were working on, and found where it went. You never know.

FitBit – Alta
With my new found resolution to get fit in 2017, with my Christmas gift money I was graciously given, I used it to put towards a FitBit Alta. Can I just say, that those little, automatic, reminders and words of encouragement are surprisingly motivating. Seeing my step count every day, and how active I was, even the sleep tracker keeps it all interesting. My only wish, is that this one (which I chose for its smaller profile than other models) had a heart rate monitor. Still, I find myself encouraged by the fact that I’ve lost 5 pounds of my 20 pound goal so that right there i think was money well spent! I got mine on amazon: FitBit Alta
I’d like to make this a series for each month so let me know your thoughts and if this is something you would like to carry on seeing.
