My Top Google Chrome Extension Picks
When google chrome first came out I resisted tooth and nail determined to use Internet Explorer for the REST…OF…MY…LIFE …life…life…life. *echoing into the distance* However, I’m a website developer for a living, so there are moments when you MUST test your websites on multiple browsers and as I started using chrome I now SOLELY use it and can’t go back.
They have these great things called ‘extensions’ that you can install on your browser to give you added functions that are helpful so I’l be going through the 2 that I found that are really great to date that I recommend.
Save to Google Drive Extension
This extension puts an icon in the upper right hand corner (that looks like the Google Drive symbol – Triangle with google colors) that you can click on and the webpage that you are on it will save a screenshot of the entire page not just what is in view and save it to your Google Drive area as a JPG image.
I’ve used it for saving webpages that had tutorial steps on it that I want to try for example. Yes I could save the link, but have you noticed the amount of blogs that go down, are no longer maintained, or are offline…alot! So with the ability to quickly save a screenshot of the page to my Drive account, i’ll be able to have that forever when I can no longer go to the page.

Tiny Sidebar Extension
This extension fulfills something I LOVED about Internet Explorer that is missing from Google Chrome. I always loved the ability to have a panel open on the side of my browser with my ‘favorites’ and saved websites listed. Especially with blogs, I could just click down the list of favorite blogs, to see if they released any updates or new articles I wanted to read. With the way Google chrome is, yes they give you a bookmark bar, but the problem is when you have a hundered websites saved, you have to go to the drop down menu EVERY TIME and then find the next website, then the next website, and the further you go down the list you even have to scroll within the drop down menu! Very cumbersome. So out of curiosity I happen to search these extensions to see if anything like that was available for chrome. Low and behold, someone did develop this function which I think is wonderful!
